FAQ
What is a wrap exactly?
A wrap is the process of completely or partially covering (wrapping) a boat with printed and laminated vinyl material. Wrapping a boat basically gives the boat a new look at a fraction of the cost of new paint job or air brushing while also protecting your existing your boat’s gel coat finish. The unique thing about the vinyl material is that it allows us to print almost any type of design, size or color that you can possibly think of.
Who installs the wrap if we’re not in Texas where you home office is located?
1. We prefer to have one of our main installers here in Austin do the installation, but we’re quite aware that not everyone can get to us here.
2. We outsource the work to nationwide installers who have done plenty of wraps for us before that are 3m certified and warranty all of their work.
3. You can fly us out to your city to do the installation.
Do wraps typically only cover the sides of a boat or do they wrap the hull as well?
Wraps can cover the following areas:
1. Port Side (PS)
2. Starboard Side (SS)
3. Transom Side (TS)
4. Deck Area (DA)
5. Wakeboard Towers (WT) in most cases
*We do not wrap boat hulls.
What types of wraps are available? What are a boat owners options in terms of coverage?

How can a reader get a custom wrap? Do they work through the dealer or through the wrap company?
90% of all of our boat wraps are custom. We have never printed the same wrap more than once. We enjoy the creative side of the business and being a small company we really work closely with all our clients to ensure they get exactly what they want. Not everyone likes skulls. Not everyone likes the realism look. Everyone is different and at the end of a fun day riding on the lake, no one wants to see a boat wrapped with the same design. That defeats the purpose of clients wanting to stand out.
In addition to the obvious benefit to the looks of the boat, what are some of the other benefits of wrapping your boat?
1. Wraps protect your factory finish against fading and minor scratches.
2. Wraps allow the owner to increase re-sale value on older boats and make it easier to sell that boat.
What can a reader expect to pay for a new wrap?
Our Mini Wraps Start at $699.00
Our Half Wraps Start at $1950.00
Our Full Wraps Start at $2599.00
What’s involved in a Wrap ?
1. DESIGN – With your marine or vehicle model, we fit the wrap to your specifications. Choose a design or talk to a representative about a custom wrap.
2. PRODUCTION – All our marine, vehicle and fleet graphics are digitally printed with solvent-based, exterior-grade, UV-resistant inks. We use conformable, removable vinyl and perforated window film from 3M, Avery and others. All images are over laminated with a UV-resistant matte, satin or gloss finish film (your choice) for additional protection from fading, salt, sand, road grime and physical abrasion. Our prints are rated for 3-5 years exterior exposure with no fading, cracking or peeling.
3. INSTALLATION – Your wrap will be scheduled for installation after your art is approved and print is in production.
Will a Wrap damage my paint or gel coat?
In most cases wraps will not damage factory paint jobs, wraps protect your paint and gel coat form UV rays and road grime, rock chips. It is important to talk with us and possibly pre-test your paint job prior to wrapping. Especially if its just been painted, or if the paint is in poor condition.
How is a Wrap produced?
Your wrap will be printed on a large-format printer. Think of the color printer that you have on your desktop, only with a width of at least 54″. The biggest difference between your desktop printer and the one that will print your wrap is that the wrap printers use a type of solvent ink that is much more durable than what you would print at your home or office. The wrap is then laminated with a vinyl laminate that protects against marks, abrasions and fading.
How long will my Wrap last?
Depending on sun exposure, typical marine wraps are good for 3-5 years. It also depends on how you care for your wrap, your wrap could last indefinitely. Wake Graphics offer a 1 (one) YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY on our wrap prints and installation.
What happens if my Wrap gets damaged?
Wraps can get damaged sometimes and need to be replaced. For that reason, we produce these graphics via computer generated files and are able to produce sections of the graphics upon demand.
If your Graphic got damaged and your gel coat does not need repair, contact Wake Graphics to arrange your wrap repair.
If your gel coat got damaged, make arrangements to get the areas repaired. When making those arrangements please contact us so we can prepare your files your printing.
How long will it take to do my Wrap?
This depends on the job. When your wrap is ready for installation, it can typically be wrapped in a day or two. Always make sure to ask your sales person about the time line, as each job is different.
How much will my Wrap cost?
This depends on the wrap package you purchase, Full Wrap or Half Wrap. If you want a custom design package request an all inclusive price quote from the sales team at Wake Graphics.
How will I know what my boat will look like before the wrap is finished?
We will provide a color proof before we begin the job, the color proof will have your graphic/wrap; super imposed onto your marine or vehicle for you to view. You will need to sign-off for approval before we begin printing your wrap. You can expect slight color differences between the proofs and final wrap due to the difference between printing on paper versus vinyl and the difference in inks, but there shouldn’t be extreme color differences.
Will gasoline affect the wrap?
Wake Graphics provides 3M protection against fuels and oils. Gasoline will eat through the boat vinyl wrap if not protected so special care must be taken around fuel. Please wipe down areas immediately.
Can you cover windows with wrap material?
Perforated window film can be used for your windows. Exactly what you see on city busses, you can see out but can’t really see in. Somewhat of a tint, but with graphics printed on the film. Please check local state regulations.
Can I receive my boat wrapped from the Factory?
In most cases you can receive your boat wrapped directly from the factory. We prefer to actually do the work at the factory and have your boat delivered to you with the wrap. If purchasing from your local dealer, we’ll schedule for your local installation. Please contact Wake Graphics for more details.
Can I modify concepts and customize?
Modifying an existing concept is possible. Layouts can be provided for windows, towers, full or partial graphic panels. Contact Wake Graphics for details, additional design rates may apply.
